The 3rd Division assigned service troops to assist the Clubmobile crew making doughnuts, coffee, and maintaining equipment. These "doughnut boys" worked two doughnut machines for the troops in Remiremont, France. As time went on, in order to keep up with demands in Europe, the Red Cross set up central bakeries to supply the majority of the doughnuts served. The Doughnut Corporation of America loaned the Red Cross 468 doughnut machines, each able to produce 48 dozen doughnuts each hour. A report for December 1944 shows 205 Red Cross women in Great Britain served 4,659,728 doughnuts to visiting troops.
