CAMP LIFE - POZZUOLI
3rd Infantry Division Clubmobile
Liz Elliott grooming from a helmet at the 3rd Division bivouac in Pozzuoli, Italy 1944. One of the statues seen in an earlier photograph stands at the entrance to the tent called "The Club House".
"Like soldiers, Clubmobile women pitched tents and dug latrines in the muddy fields of France, with only a helmet to help them bathe. They built a family on the battlefield, not only formed by their exposure to the violence of war but also a product of their identity as women, specifically Clubmobile women." [5]
