RED BEACH - Baie de Cavalaire

At the Baie de Cavalaire invasion beach LCVPs from the USS Andromeda and Samuel Chase are on the beach with the 7th Regiment. The first wave started before dawn with mine sweepers followed by explosive-laden, radio-controlled LCVPs to clear obstacles and then a barrage from 21 rocket-equipped landing craft just before the first assault troops with support from DD tanks at 0800.
