POZZUOLI, ITALY 1944
3rd Infantry Division Clubmobile
Flo Wick serving soldiers returning from a training mission on the docks of Pozzuoli after dark. Her crew served the 3rd Division on the docks and the beaches right up to their departure for southern France.
While the Mediterranean Clubmobile crews had to improvise, the groups from Great Britain where well-equipped. Each group originally consisted of "twenty-nine pieces of rolling equipment," including "eight Clubmobiles, one Cinemobile, two two-and-a-half ton supply trucks, two Hillman pick-up trucks, one jeep, and two mobile generators."
Cinemobiles were another Red Cross innovation of World War II. An observer recalled, "the Cinemobile was complete with sound projections, portable screens and films, a portable stage, small piano, and public address system."
