Bill Heller-ANZIO, Italy
Bill Heller poses with "Janey" at Anzio. The photographers flew in Janey for their aerial photography. Bill Toomey told of flying 24 photo missions before actively avoiding mission 25 after a particularly rough landing. This left him one mission short of receiving the Air Medal for "25 operational flights during which exposure to enemy fire is expected". Janey was piloted by Capt. Alfred "Dutch" Schultz and traveled with the 3rd Signal Company from North Africa to Germany.
