CARPENTRAS As a killer of 13 German soldiers, 13-year-old Joseph Parrachine takes part in celebrating the Carpentras' liberation. Parrachine is credited with an attack of a German tank with a machine pistol resulting in the death of its crew when fellow FFI soldiers assisted. His photo was widely circulated in American newspapers with a description of his exploits. From Carpentras, VI Corps focused on Montélimar up Highway 7 as the German 19th Army continued to scramble, by any means possible, toward Lyon. photo: dogfacesoldiers collection
