ISOLA BELLA - ANZIO BEACHHEAD
Isola Bella is about 5 kilometers from Cisterna. The 4th Ranger Battalion was stopped south of Isola Bella and was unable to break the German roadblock there while the 1st and 3rd Ranger battalions that had moved during the night of January 30 along the Mussolini Canal were trapped in open terrain within sight of Cisterna.
