NEUF BRISACH - COLMAR POCKET - 1945
3rd Infantry Division Clubmobile

Flo Wick and Janet Potts take aim at the enemy on the front line in Neuf Brisach. This activity was not an intended consequence of the A.R.C. women's access to the front and in no way was condoned by the America Red Cross although it illustrates how close these women were to danger. Not even war correspondents had this view of the war. The America Red Cross was the only civilian organization working directly with the military during the war and it allowed the Clubmobile workers and volunteers a soldier's perspective of the war. Many woman tell of carrying weapons, firing weapons, and especially "pulling the cord" to fire artillery pieces facilitated by the soldiers they served.
